Movie Review: The Expendables

Have an hour and forty five minutes and don't know what to do with it? Want a fine cinematic experience? Nah, that's not what this movie is all about.

In a nutshell, this movie is a whole bunch of action stars in a movie that's about action, story be damned.

Both Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger make brief appearances in the film. And it's pretty clear that with a cast of action stars like this, they were just there as a nod and a wink and some good old fashioned promotion.

Toy Story 3: A Critical Movie Review

As a long time Pixar and animation fan in my late thirties and with two kids under the age of ten I was keen to go and see the latest offering from these legends of storytelling. After the movie, as I left, I reflected on the last two hours in the cinema and found the most satisfying experience for me was the short film that came before the main feature, Night And Day.

I wanted to like the film, I really did, but in the end it wasn't satisfying and actually left me with a rather disconcerting feeling-not an experience I would like to have after seeing a film with my two kids. Not to give away the ending, but the story structure as a whole was ok. It affected me emotionally in the right ways, particularly the penultimate dramatic moment in the trash compactor scene.

It's Complicated Movie Review

What do you get when you combine Alec Baldwin, Merryl Streep, and Steve Martin in a movie with a rather tired plot?  It's not really that complicated.  You get a pretty good movie.

Let us first start with Alec Baldwin.  In spite of all of the personal problems he has had, his acting remains absolutely top notch in everything that he does.  Perhaps he has been through so much in his personal life that he knows how to play every role in which he is cast.  In "It's Complicated", he plays a rather manic divorcee, not too much of a stretch for him given that his personal life as a manically divorced man has been played out for all to see.  As one of Hollywood's top leading actors, Alec plays his role as a divorced lawyer who has married a younger woman to a tee.

Merryl Streep continues to be a master of the craft and her presence alone makes this one of the top ten movie rentals.  From her early movies to recent endeavors, including "Julia and Julia", Merryl Streep shines in just about every role that she plays.  In this movie, she plays a character named Jane, who has been divorced by her husband and forced to pick up her life and move on.  She has done quite well in her personal endeavors and has found peace.  That is, until her ex-husband reignites his passions for her.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Movie Review – Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a wonderful romantic comedy directed by Blake Edwards and starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. Audrey Hepburn plays her best known role in this film as Holly Golightly, a glamorous "wild thing" who works as a call girl in New York City. George Peppard plays Paul Varjak, a writer and gigolo who ends up falling in love with her. The chemistry between the two works quite well, culminating in a gripping and heartfelt ending.

The movie begins with Holly Golightly peering at a display at Tiffany's in Manhattan. She lives in an small apartment with no furniture and a cat with no name. She works as a call girl and longs to marry a rich man.
