Peter Jackson, the mastermind who directed and co-wrote the screenplay for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, is at it again with a remake of the 1933 classic: King Kong. Being Jackson's personal favourite movie when he was growing up, it's easy to see why he chose King Kong as his follow-up movie to the Lord of the Rings.

Peter Jackson's King Kong isn't a sequel, but rather a remake of the 1933 classic. Set in the 1930's Carl Denham (Jack Black) is a filmmaker who takes his cast and crew to shoot a movie the mysterious Skull Island. There they find the incredible creature, Kong. Leading actress Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) quickly catches Kong's eye, and is kidnapped by the King of the Gorillas. It is up to the rest of the crew, led by Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) to rescue Ann.

Typical of a Peter Jackson film, King Kong has a running time of over 3 hours. Jackson likes to thoroughly introduce all the characters in his movies, and this one is on different. Once the crew reaches Skull Island, that's where the movie really picks up. The action scenes are absolutely breathtaking and are helped by a fantastic musical score provided by James Newton Howard.

Jack Black, not known for dramatic roles, gives a surprisingly strong performance as filmmaker Carl Denham, and is helped by a superb supporting cast which includes Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody and Colin Hanks.

This is a typical Peter Jackson film. The characters are well developed, the acting is top notch, the action scenes are fantastic, the visual effects are stunning and all is topped off with a superb musical score. This film should be in every DVD collection.

15 to 20 years ago the technology to film and consequently bring to life incredible 3D films was not available. Like most modern technology 3D has changed ... and this time it's here to stay. Granted 3D films are not new and over the last couple of decades it achieved limited success. However we believe 2010 will always be remembered as the year when 3D films became a serious contender within the film industry. So why do we think 3D will be with us for a while and consequently not a minor blip ... well let's look at the evidence.

A) Key film directors have either used (James Cameron/ Tim Burton/ Louis Leterrier) or are planning on using (Nick Park / Quentin Tarantino) 3D technology in their films. These big players have big reputations and would not want them tainted by a nonchalant decision.

B) The leading technology manufacturers are all investing serious cash into the industry helping to make 3D films more accessible to all. From launching 3D TV's and projectors to improving the quality of glasses everyone is getting in on the action ... with the hope of reaping the financial rewards.

C) Traditional cinemas have all begun to install 3D technology. This is not small scale but country-wide. Converting a cinema is not a cheap affair so someone behind the scenes is doing the maths i.e. they know that 3D will be around for a while.

D) SKY are just about to launch a 3D specific channel which undoubtedly will include 3D films. Again another significant sign that 3D is here to stay.

Finally E) We've already seen two mammoth 3D launches this year that have consequently pulled in huge profits. James Cameron's oscar winning Avatar will always be seen as the benchmark of 3D films and although Alice in Wonderland has not had the same quality reviews Tim Burton manages to pull off a decent rendition of the Lewis Carroll classic.

It's been said that twenty out of one hundred and seventy blockbusters this year will be filmed in 3D – a huge increase on 2009. Tron, Toy Story, Clash of the Titans, Hubble, Despicable me, Arabia, Harry Potter, Train your dragon, Megamind are just a few films that spring to mind. We can pretty much vouch that 3D films in 2011 will be just as prevalent.

So is 3D here to stay and will it set up shop within our domestic abodes? Our answer is simply YES.

The new Iron Man 2 movie debuts in cinemas on May 7 2010. Kids love superheroes and even though the film is rated M and recommended for adults, they can't help but see all the cool trailers, toys and games coming out with the film.

Iron Man is owned by Marvel, a comic company that already has a large array of toys, comics, games and books on the iron clad superhero. They have produced a number of items exclusively for the film and these started hitting shelves as early as March. Toys include action figures, role playing helmets and accessories, and games.

There are a plethora of action figures out to mark the release of the second film, ranging in price from $10 to $250. For the youngest fan, Iron Man features prominently in the 3 inch Marvel Superhero Squad figures. These are recommended for ages 3+ as they have no separate parts or pieces so there is no danger of digestion. 

The 3¾ inch Iron Man 2 range of action figures by Hasbro includes numerous versions of Iron Man, plus War Machine and Crimson Dynamo. Other characters from the film will be released as the film comes closer to its release date. This is the story of Martin Cahill, a Dubliner thief who had a long and 'successful? crime career beginning while he was only a small boy; a career that lasted until he stepped on IRA's toes.

Watch 'the Long Good Friday (1980)? for a similar Irish crime movie in which the main character again has the misfortune of earning too much cash for himself in IRA's backyard. Both characters think they can get the best of IRA in their own ways and both find out the harsh reality only when it is too late for them.

The major difference between the two is that, in 'the Long Good Friday? our protagonist is trying to make the transition from being the Al Capone of the East End to a legitimate new British Donald Trump. As a patriot and big town capitalist, his vision is all encompassing. He is a Cockney bent on moving up the social ladder in a hurry.

Nothing can be further from the truth for Martin Cahill. He is a small town crook and master thief who can best be described as the 'tony Soprano of Dublin.? He is comfortable with who he is without any social mobility aspirations. All he wants is money and lots of it to take care of himself and his loved ones without working for it.

His extended family with many kids is live and well and among his circle of friends and neighbors he is loved, protected and treated as another Robin Hood. However, when he robs a famous jewelry company, 100 people are laid off.

Cahill is smart enough to rob houses while their occupants are walking around. He is smart enough to elude the police for many years. However the uneducated master thief is not sophisticated enough to realize his crime spree's collective cost for the community. But this not a movie about any 'messages.? It is the biography of a man who meets the end that was rushing at him literally at the speed of a bullet.

Brendan Gleeson's portrayal of Cahill is simply fantastic. He really becomes the character and it is hard to tell which is the actor and which the real MC. Jon Voight also does a fairly decent job playing the Inspector Ned Kenny but the weight of the movie is definitively on Gleeson's shoulder and he carries it very well.

A period-piece crime story with a strong Irish bent. A 7 out of 10.

AVT or Audio Video Translation requires a broad set of skills that extend beyond the translation of languages.  In fact, AVT professionals must be ready for a whole new set of hurdles to ensure viewer satisfaction. Some common difficulties present themselves during high speed scenes and quick exchanges of dialogue that are often combined with problems associated with localization and sociolectal variations, simultaneous speech, music soundtracks and special effect noises. A skilled AVT worker can breakdown the translation requirements for an entire scene in a way that maximizes comprehension to the average viewer.

In nearly all cases, the Arabic Translation of audiovisual content is most easily provided to the client in one of two preferred methods. Either oral output remains oral output, as in the original production, or it is transformed into written output. If the first option is favored, the original soundtrack is replaced by a new one in the target language, a process which is generally known as revoicing. When revoicing the audio track takes place, the replacement of the original language can be total such as when lip syncing is used or partial, when the original spoken dialogue is somewhat unnoticeable but still present.

While subtitling, dubbing and voiceover are the most common techniques due to their minimal use of financial resources and human capital, they are by no means the only language transfer options available in the industry. According to a number of French Translation workers in the audiovisual field, there are a minimum of 10 different types of language translation and transfer methods available today. But to keep things simple, we have provided a brief description of the primary methods that consist of dubbing, voiceovers and subtitling.

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen was Wedding Crashers but one of the not so funny things I have ever seen or heard is the White House Crashers. For what was suppose to be an elegant dinner for President Barack Obama, India's prime minister, high end social life's, and celebrities to all gather and see the inside day to day lives of the governing body has ended in turmoil. Even though the event went well and nobody seemed out of place at the event surrounded by secret service agents everywhere, two uninvited guess were able to walk their way right in.

The event took place on Nov 24 and featured the who's who of rich socialites. Even though they had not received tickets into the event Tareq and Michaele Salahi two socialites who are also trying to get spots on Bravo channels reality show " The Real Housewives of D.C. " did not let that hold them back from attending. Somehow they were able to walk right in and take pictures with President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and enjoy a night of exquisite entertainment.

It was only noticed after the event that the Salahis did not have an invitation and crashed the party, however the Salahis are standing by their story that they were indeed invited and even had the emails to prove it. But after the press retained copies of the emails it clearly shows that they did receive a guaranteed invite and took it upon themselves to show up at the White House uninvited in hopes of getting in.

The emails do show that the Salahis had been working with Michele Jones who is a special assistant to Defense Secretary Robert Gates to obtain tickets for the event. While Jones did attempt to help the Salahis obtain tickets for the event, she was not able to and left them a message on their cell phones notifying them they were not invited. But like any great party crasher the Salahis said their cell phone battery had died so they never received the message until after the party was over.

Even though they did not have tickets in hand once they got there, they still were allowed entrance which given the circumstances and the location should have never happened. Somehow not only did they get in but also they were formally announced as they poised for pictures on their way in.

Whether they crashed the party or not the couple should of never made it past the gate outside. It's amazing that two average citizens can just walk right in and get up close and personal with the President and a prime minister without anyone knowing they did not belong. What if they had ulterior motives upon entering the event, they had all the access needed to harm our counties leader and no one seems to know how. I do not know how the secret service department works but whoever was working the entrance line should be looking for a new career outside of security.

Just because you support gay equality doesn't mean you are necessarily gay - a highly complex concept that apparently seems to confound and amaze many people.

Harry Potter heartthrob Danielle Radcliffe has once again had to ‘deny' persistent internet rumours that he prefers guys to girls.

When asked about it in an interview with MTV this week the young star said: "If people want to say that, they can. I'm not. I'm straight."

"My favourite thing I saw was a guy on the internet who said, ‘Of course he's gay – he's got a gay face,' which I thought was kind of an odd thing to say anyway" he laughed.

And the reason why?

The 20yo has proved himself to be one of that ultra rare commodity: straight men who actively support gay equality. Part and parcel of this is sometimes being on the receiving end of homophobia himself. Rather than let it get him down it inspires Radcliffe to take action.

After making a large donation to the Trevor Project, a suicide and crisis prevention helpline for LGBT people, he has now agreed to film an advert against homophobia.

Last year Radcliffe appeared on the cover of gay glossy "Attitude" and says he has always been outspoken when it comes to gay rights.

"I grew up knowing a lot of gay men, and it was never something that I even thought twice about—that some men were gay and some weren't," he recently explained to reporters in New York.

"And then I went to school and for the first time I came across homophobia. I had never encountered it before. It shocked me.
